LAKE CHAPARRAL

Lake Chaparral, Chaparral Ridge, Chaparral Ravine, and Chaparral Valley make up Chaparral.

Lake Chaparral is a man-made lake with two water falls.  It is stocked each year with trout for fishing in the summer and ice-fishing in the winter.  It has a beautiful sand beach. It is a great lake to swim in on hot summer days and skate during the winter months.  Various non-motorized boats are available at the boathouse, even paddleboards. A pathway on the lake is zambonied during the winter as soon as the ice allows, as well as designated hockey/ringette areas and a leisure 'no-sticks' ice pad.  A fun tobogan zone is also created on the hill.

Lake Chaparral and Chaparral Ravine have lake privileges.

Chaparral Ridge and Chaparral Valley do not have lake privileges.

The beach house is available for booking parties and many programs such as dance and yoga are available. Covered areas are available to reserve for picnic gatherings.

The park also has play parks, outdoor exercise equipment, tennis courts and a beach volleyball court.  Tennis lessons are available; our children have enjoyed many summers of tennis lessons at Lake Chaparral. Lake Chaparral - Calgary Academy of Tennis.  Pickle ball lines have been painted on the tennis courts as of May 2019.

Each summer the Alberta Triathlon Association runs the Lake Chaparral Triathlon at Lake Chaparral, an event that is open to all ages and abilities.  A great event to get kids started and for adults to give the sport a try.  


Chaparral is a great community to raise a family.  
Many bike paths run throughout the community and into Fish Creek Park & Bow Valley. Several green spaces and play parks in the community provide great places to gather and play.

Modern conveniences abound: Tim Hortons, Starbucks, Macs, Preschools, Pet Stores & Veterinarians, Walk-in clinics, Dentists, Hair Salons, Fitness, Banks, Drycleaner, local Pub, many places to eat . . .


Schools.
Both a Catholic elementary school and a Public elementary school (both K-6) are right in the community.  In addition, many bussing options provide children with school choices - Montessori, Spanish, French, Art, Science, etc. Other Catholic options (French) are also nearby, check out the Catholic School Board website for details. 


Golf.
There are a lot of great options close by for golfing. Blue Devil Golf Course located in Chaparral Valley. Lil Devil is a fantastic par 3 for beginners to learn the game, also located in Chaparral Valley. McKenzie Meadows Golf Course is just on the other side of 22x; a great course as well as superb practice facility - including 2 ranges, pitching area, chipping/putting area and sand trap to practice your out.
