JUNE 2024 CALGARY AND REGION REAL ESTATE MARKET REPORTS
Sales in June reached 2,738, a 13% decline from last year's record high. While sales improved for homes priced above $700,000, declines in lower price ranges offset these gains. Despite the drop, sales remain over 17% higher than long-term trends.

Par3 and Executive GOLF IN AND AROUND CALGARY

There are several places to head out to enjoy golf with beginners in Calgary.

If you have kids that are learning, beginners, seniors, looking to work on your short game, these courses are perfect.

Let us know if we have missed any! We'd love to check them out.


1. GolfutureYYC  (formerly Golf Canada, formerly RCGA) on the corner of Glenmore and Deerfoot Trail. This course offers four sets of tees and ranges from 37 to 140 yards.

A short and pretty little 9-hole course with some water and sand that is not really in play (at least from the front tees).

This facility is a great place with a fantastic driving range (with tracers) food and beverages. And a 40,000 square foot practice putting green. 

The course has some trees and runs alongside the Bow River.

2. Lil Devil Golf Course in Chaparral Valley has a small 9-hole golf course - located by the Lil Devil Pro Shop. This course offers two sets of tees and ranges from 50 to 300 yards.

Minimal trees, no water and no sand traps – a nice place to learn golf.

Picnic tables and snacks are available here. Reservations are required, if it’s not busy walk-ons are possible. Check in at the Lil Devil Pro Shop.

A mini-putt course and a putting green also at this location.  Blue Devil golf course, range and clubhouse also at this location.

3. ​McCall Lake (city of Calgary) is an oasis in the middle of the city. It has an 18-hole course, a par 3 course, two putting greens, a chipping area, driving range, clubhouse with a licensed snack bar, basic golf supplies, and offers golf lessons. This course is a short par 3 with holes ranging from 70-135 yards. There is some water on this course – bring extra balls.

The airport is in close proximity – the only downside on this course is planes flying overhead.


4. Lakeview (city of Calgary) offers a well treed 9-hole course along the Glenmore Reservoir. Although along the reservoir, the water is not in play. There is no water on the course, and no sand traps. It's beginner friendly with a mix of par 3 and par 4 holes, the yardage ranges from 83 to 367yards. There is a putting green and small clubhouse with a licensed snack bar, and basic golf supplies. There is no driving range at this course.

Lakeview offers family specials and great junior rates (sometimes free with paying adult).

5. Shaganappi Point Valley 9 (city of Calgary) offers a pretty, well treed 9-hole course on the inside of their 18-hole course. This course is an intermediate course with 3 tees and a mix of par 3 and par 4 holes, the yardage ranges from 80 to 325yards. There is a driving range, putting green and small clubhouse with a licensed snack bar, and basic golf supplies.

The fun thing, once you (or your beginner) graduate to this course you can start to track a handicap.

6. Douglasdale (Eaglequest). This course is an executive (par 3 and 4) 18-hole course. A clubhouse with full restaurant & patio, chipping green, putting green. The driving range, however it is located further from the course.  This course is an intermediate course with 3 tees and a mix of par 3 and par 4 holes, the yardage ranges from 90 to 366yards.

Be prepared to play 18 holes as this course does not bring hole 9 back to the clubhouse.

The summer camps for juniors are great fun – we highly recommend.

7. The Loop - Heritage Pointe (South of Calgary). This is three holes, a par 3, 4, and 5 course.  There is a 13,000 square foot practice green and bunker – a great spot to practice and improve your short game. Also home to Launch Pad.


Richmond Green. This little par 3 course was the number one perfect place to start. Sadly, the city has closed this course. Maybe if enough people write the city, we could get the course back to the little beauty it was. It really was the perfect course for children, seniors, women learning in a non-threatening environment. A true gem.

MAY 2024 CALGARY AND REGION REAL ESTATE MARKET REPORTS

The month of May showed a resilient market with strong resale home sales, slightly below last year's record but well above long-term trends. Sales declined in lower-priced detached and semi-detached homes due to limited supply. According to Ann-Marie Lurie, Chief Economist at CREB®, new listing inventories have increased, mainly in higher price ranges, supported by a strong economy. However, these did not offset the decline in lower-priced sales. Inventory levels, though improved, remain low, favoring sellers. Price growth continued city-wide, with the benchmark price rising compared to both last month and last year.

1. Winsport (C.O.P. Canada Olympic Park) – NW Calgary. A family favorite. There are some challenging holes as this course is built onto the side of the hill.  A beautiful spot tucked into the trees. 

Reservations are highly recommended. 

The course incorporates stairs and bridges which may be challenging for some individuals.

2. Stone Creek Adventure Golf – Country Hills Blvd (on the east side of Deerfoot at 999 Country Hills Blvd NE) – NE Calgary.  Another family favorite, it is also well treed.  A lot of water and vintage decor add to the atmosphere at this 18 hole course. Picnic tables and cafeteria style snacks.

There is also a driving range at this location.

3. Oasis – Pebble Beach located South of Calgary / Heritage Point/DeWinton.  This 18 hole course is challenging in that it has holes longer than 75 feet and greens wider than 26 feet. Waterfalls, fountains, and streams throughout the course add to the beauty and the challenge. 

Packages available for birthday parties, corporate events, groups, charitable fund raisers, team building sessions, etc.

6. Crystal Ridge Golf – Okotoks – Maxman’s Mini Golf (south of Calgary). This course is worth the drive just south of the city. Another family favorite. Located right beside the Crystal Ridge golf course, it is a beautiful spot with full grown trees and great water features.

APRIL 2024 CALGARY AND REGION REAL ESTATE MARKET REPORTS

Sales are still higher than usual for April. The increase in sales came from more affordable, high-density products. Sales in detached homes were the same as last year.

Inventory remains low. Consequently, prices continued to rise.

Lower-priced homes saw a 29% decline in supply, while higher-priced properties experienced growth in listings. This shift is attributed to high-interest rates, which are prompting demand for affordable homes and increasing listings for higher-priced ones.
